redwhite+bluezz Debuts the "Weekend Brunch"
“We think Saturday is the perfect day for brunch, an opportunity to relax without having to worry about work the next day," says owner André Vener Friday, August 31 | 7:12 am
Starting on Saturday, September 8 and continuing on both Saturdays and Sundays thereafter, redwhite+bluezz will unleash a world-class brunch at their elegant restaurant at the corner of Green and Raymond in Pasadena. “We think Saturday is the perfect day for brunch, an opportunity to relax without having to worry about work the next day," owner André Vener said in an interview. Dubbed "Brunch and All That Jazz" the hybrid weekend venue planned by Vener will bring together live Jazz, vintage champagnes, signature cocktails and a cutting-edge new menu. Cordon Bleu Executive Chef Bryan Hankins has created breakfast versions of gourmet classics, like his "Bananas Foster Pancakes" and "Surf and Turf Benedict" (featuring Filet Mignon and Maine lobster). Brunch will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with live Jazz performances, featuring the restaurant's state of the art sound system, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sommelier Russ Meek will making his rounds to suggest wines, by-the glass or from the extensive cellar, while the brunch will be prepared by Cordon Bleu Sous Chef Jon Gibson. "This will be a real brunch," Vener said, "with everything on the menu from light California omelets, homemade organic granola with yogurt, to over-the-top renditions of Eggs Benedict." Prices will range from $12-$17 for gourmet omelets and pancakes to around $28 for lobster and filet dishes. “Our signature black-cherry mojitos should break down guests’ willpower nicely," Vener said. "Quite a few reservations have already been made." redwhite+bluezz opened just over a year ago in Old Pasadena. The modern and comfortable decor houses two distinctly themed separate rooms – one a world-class restaurant and the other a throbbing Jazz club that heats up with every set. The dinner menu’s reverse section, also available in the club, features heritage cheese, charcuterie and wine tasting “flights” specially chosen to compliment them. The restaurant and the Jazz club each boast a state-of-the art nitrogen-gas injected wine refrigerator that allows them to offer, by the glass, wines from rare and delicate vintages in perfect condition. The Dinner menu features items such as a Vanilla-Lime Drizzled Watermelon Salad, a Grafton Cheddar-smothered Snake River Farms Kobe Beef Burger, and a Certified Angus 26 oz. Bone-in Ribeye Chop. Two dozen artisan cheese selections are available for custom tastings, and some of the most popular items are on the appetizer menu including a Champagne-Battered Monte Cristo sandwich packed with Black Forest Ham, Port Salut Cheese and Bing Cherry Port Wine Preserves. The club features Jazz performances three days a week with no cover charge, and frequently there are surprise performers who sit in with the regularly scheduled performers. The music is performed from 8-11 p.m. on Thursdays, from 9-midnight Friday and Saturday. The most acclaimed regular artists will be performing at weekend brunches. redwhite+bluezz is located at 70 South Raymond Ave. in historic Old Pasadena. Phone: (626)792-4441; www.redwhitebluezz.com
