Local Photographer Publishes Extraordinary Panoramas of Descanso

Wednesday, December 13

Warren Marr signing copies of his book Descanso on December 9
The newly-released photo-art book, Descanso, by photographer Warren Marr, is available now at the Descanso Gardens Gift Shop.  The book, a beautiful gift for anyone interested in photography, gardens, and particularly in Descanso Gardens, will not be available in book stores until March 2007.

Marr’s extraordinary panoramic photographs show the Gardens during quiet times of day as they looked and evolved through a full year of seasons.

Descanso also includes a fascinating historical time line of the land that is now Descanso Gardens and essays by Marr; Robert Smaus, retired garden editor of the Los Angeles Times; Anne Lyden, associate curator of photographs at The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, and David R. Brown, executive director of Descanso Gardens.

Marr, a resident of La Crescenta, has exhibited his work in galleries, museums and selected collections throughout the western United States.  His articles have been published in a variety of publications, he taught an autumn class in photography at Descanso Gardens and he has lectured at several conferences, including the 1998 Photo Expo in New York City.

The beautiful volume is available in hard- and soft-cover editions
The book, which features on its cover a panorama photo of Descanso’s familiar Ginkgo tree in full golden glory of early winter, is available in hard cover for $42.95 or in soft cover for $24.95.  Also available are Marr’s photographs in pigmented digital inkjet prints, also known as giclées, which are archival, continuous-tone prints on specialized papers.
