Edith Roberts: You will be Missed

When Edith Roberts died at 91, the Pasadena Symphony lost one of its strongest supporters.  Not just the Symphony will feel her loss, but the whole City of Pasadena, for Roberts was truly one-of-a-kind. She was a popular community volunteer with a beguiling smile, who operated on the principle that needs of others come first.  This Saturday, join the Pasadena Symphony in celebrating the life of Edith Roberts at the performance of Mozart's Requiem. click here

Theatre 360's Alice in Wonderland
Theatre 360 has taken their own spin on this production with costumes are influenced by the Japanese style of “Harajuku” and the set Salvidor Dali-surrreal. It all contributes to the kaleidoscope of adventure immortalized by Lewis Carroll. The story follows young Alice down the rabbit hole into a fantasy world of characters we have come to love: the White Rabbit, Caterpillar, Chesire Cat, Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts.

ARTTalk: Festival of the Spoken Word

Dubbed as one of San Gabriel Valley’s largest spoken word events, ARTTalk is sure to rattle the literary senses. This festival features avant guard performances showcasing award-winning performers, literary authors, storytelling, music, dance and more. ARTTalk represents artists exploring the spoken disciplines featuring some of LA's most established and emerging performers all tied to the theme of “Communication.” A highlight of the event is the addition of American Sign Language (ASL) to the program. Two new performers that will debut are Deaf West- ASL Story Time, a popular children’s theatre group and Elaine Muray, a children’s folktale storyteller. Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A restaurant is generally defined by its chef. In the case of Old Pasadena’s DISH Bistro, a talented pair (owner David Johnson ad Executive Chef Job Carder) have teamed to create the food and flair. “With me out front greeting guests and Chef Job in the kitchen making great food, how can we lose?” laughs Johnson. Johnson likes to refer to DISH’s cuisine as “California Cool,” bringing the best of NoCal to SoCal. Chef Job focuses on organics and is a big fan of the slow food movement.

MUSIC:
Dedication to a Great Lady: Eternal Mozart

LIFESTYLES:
Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association Gets a New Home
Spa
“I opened the door, and they had lights on this new floor that took my breath away. I had no idea that the building could be transformed to be that beautiful.” Nothing else could be more apt than Erin Stevens’ description of her thoughts when she first saw the new dance floor at their new digs.
The Pasadena Symphony will showcase Mozart’s dramatic and poignant Requiem along with Berlioz’s hauntingly romantic and dreamlike Les Nuit d’été in a concert appropriately named Eternal Mozart. The orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem will be dedicated to the life and work of Edith M. Roberts (shown with Maestro Jorge Mester).
