Geeks who Rock!

We've Come a Long Way Baby!

It's hard to believe that just a mere 90 years ago women could not vote. That's right, what you and I take for granted women fought, protested and were arrested for. There will be two celebrations of this notable milestone on Thursday, August 26th: the first at City Hall put on by the Women's Organizations of Greater Pasadena from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and second held at the Altadena Library put on by Fifty-Fifty Leadership and IMPACT Personal Safety.   City Hall,  Altadena Library

Social Events Calendar

Suzan-Lori Parks Pulitzer Prize Winning Play
Topdog/Underdog centers on two African-American brothers named Lincoln and Booth (their dad’s idea of a joke). Abandoned by their parents to fend for themselves while still juveniles at the respective ages of 16 and 11, the brothers are now in their thirties. They live marginal lives sharing a rented room in a low-rent district. Their relationships with women have been spotty at best.

Monet and Harlequin are characters that B&T have created to play out their improvisational explorations. As close friends and neighbors, Mo and Harley decide to collaborate on a summer video project that documents their progress in becoming better versions of themselves.

Big Bear is a four-season resort destination that offers a wide range of activities year-round. You can choose to have a completely full schedule every day—or you can just relax and enjoy the view. Although we’re experiencing a somewhat cooler summer than normal in southern California, my husband and I anticipated clean air and great weather in Big Bear in August. During our three-day stay, temperatures hovered around 78° without a cloud in the sky. And as for stargazing, the clear night sky afforded beautiful stellar sightings.
