Summer Programs for Teens

All summer long the Pasadena Public Library will be offering programs tailored to the teenagers among us. Those wonderful beings who sit on our couches talking on AIM, MySpace or playing video games. The darlings who, when we ask them a question, answer in monosyllabic grunts. But we love them and want them... out of the house. At least for a little while, to broaden their horizons (and give us a break). Read

New Musical Rich With Chekhovian Longing
The Theatre @ Boston Court presents the world premiere of Gu
lls, a musical freely based on Chekhov's The Seagull. It's 1959 Greenwich Village and Hollywood, and a family of troubled dreamers yearns for love, immortality and survival. Irenie, a glamorous Broadway star; Gore, her novelist/screenwriter lover; Conrad, her Beat poet son; and Nina, the lovely young African-American everyone loves, engage in an epic struggle for passion and connection in this new musical, rich with Chekhovian longing.
