(July 25) Pasadena-based Wescom Credit Union marked an important milestone this month as it welcomed its 250,000th member.
The milestone was celebrated at Wescom’s Los Angeles branch, where its newest member, Alison Sherman, was awarded a $250 gift card to Albertsons and a $250 cash deposit into her Wescom checking account. In addition, Sherman was presented other Wescom gifts, including a framed certificate to acknowledge her as Wescom’s 250,000th member.
Ms. Sherman, who recently moved from Connecticut to California, was encouraged by coworkers to join the credit union.
"I joined Wescom because it reminded me of shopping back home in Connecticut, where customer service was really emphasized," she said. "I’m very happy with Wescom and I’m really excited to be honored as Wescom’s 250,000th member."
In a time of stagnant member growth in the credit union industry, Wescom’s membership growth has increased an average of 11% per year in the last three years —
including a 14% increase in 2004.
"We take pride in our membership growth, as it is a result of Wescom’s commitment to service which is our number one priority," said Darren Williams, president and CEO of Wescom Credit Union. "The 250,000th member milestone is a significant accomplishment for Wescom, and I would like to thank all of our employees for their dedication and hard work in helping to reach this achievement."
