Celebrating the Arts, Culture and People
of Pasadena, San Marino, South Pasadena,
Altadena & La Cañada Flintridge

The second annual "Swingin’ on a Star" gala, which took place Sunday, June 26, raised an unprecedented $173,000 for Five Acres. More than 400 attendees enjoyed an evening of dancing under the stars to Robert Incelli & His Latin Band, and participated in both a live and silent auction.
Five Acres, founded as one of Los Angeles’ first orphanages in 1888, is a therapeutic, prevention, treatment and education center for abused, neglected and at-risk children. Its services include foster care and adoptions, residential treatment, a therapeutic school, deaf services, group homes and community-based programs. The agency, with facilities in Altadena and Pasadena, serves more than 2,500 children and families throughout Southern California annually.
"Swingin’ on a Star" was a collaboration of more than 50 retailers, seven restaurants and numerous businesses donating products and services to benefit the children of Five Acres.
All of One Colorado’s seven restaurants participated in the gala. They included: Akbar, Gordon Biersch, Il Fornaio, Johnny Rockets, Leonidas Chocolate Café, Russell’s, and Sushi Roku.
"Swingin’ on a Star" is the only time that One Colorado devotes its open-air, public courtyard to a single cause. All proceeds from "Swingin’ on a Star" will be dedicated to the Five Acres’ child abuse prevention programs.
Major event sponsors and contributors included KJAZZ 88.1 FM, the La Cañada Outlook, Place Vendome, Planning Company Associates, State Street, U.S. Trust Company and Bank of the West.
