Pasadena Children's Guild members enjoyed a "mini-fundraiser" on April 29 that was hosted by Max Emsallem and Mike Merritt, owners of Place Vendome jewelers in Old Town Pasadena.  Place Vendome has generously agreed to donate to the Guild 15% of all sales made to members before Mother's Day.
Guild members sipped French wines, chatted, admired the gems and settings and tried on pieces that struck their fancy.  And one fortunate member -- Julie DeCastro -- won the drawing for $500 off any purchase of jewlery in the store.
The Pasadena Children's Guild donates over $125,000 every year to Young & Healthy, the local organization that provides medical services to over 1,250 uninsured or under-insured children in the Pasadena area. With the help of 250 professional physicians who volunteer their services, these children get the medical help they need.
The Guild raises these funds from two important fundraising events.
The Holiday Benefit is a much anticipated annual event, held at a beautiful private home within the San Gabriel Valley.  Each room of the Benefit home is decorated and filled with holiday gifts made or purchased for resale by the 125 Guild members.  Benefit guests are invited to shop at the Boutique, and afterwards to enjoy a catered lunch.  More than 700 guests attend the Benefit each year.
The Benefit Preview Party takes place the evening prior to the Holiday Boutique.  Area restaurants and beverage companies who treat guests to a sampling of their fine foods and beverages sponsor this cocktail party. During the evening, guests place bids at an extensive silent auction and preview the Boutique items in the Benefit House, which are then sold the following day.
