The Shakespeare Club's Margaret Asher and Mary Martinetti (co-chairs of the Philanthropy Department) and Shakespeare Club President Diane Johnson stand behind scholarship grant winners Maricruz Vargass-Soto (Blair High School), Wilber Prada (Marshall High School), Gabriel Monteros (John Muir High School), and Chevel Blount (Pasadena High School).

Diane Johnson , president of the Shakespeare Club of Pasadena, along with Margaret Asher and Mary Martinetti, co-chairmen of the Shakespeare Club’s Philanthropy Department, announced on June 9 th that scholarships have been awarded by the Club to four Pasadena public high school students.

Scholarships were awarded to one graduating senior from each of Pasadena’s four public high schools (Pasadena High School, Blair High School, John Muir High School and Marshall High School). The scholarships were awarded at a luncheon held at the Shakespeare Club in Pasadena. 

Shakespeare Club scholarships were awarded to the following students:  Maricruz Vargass-Soto from Blair High School, Wilber Prada from Marshall High School, Gabriel Monteros from John Muir High School, and Chevel Blount from Pasadena High School. 

The Shakespeare Club of Pasadena was organized in 1888 and has the  distinction of being the oldest women’s club in Southern California. The Shakespeare Club sponsors many philanthropic, educational, cultural, and  social events throughout the year.
