The thunderous finale of Mahler’s "Titan" gave way to equally thunderous applause marking the end of The Pasadena Symphony’s season at the Civic Auditorium on Saturday, In brief comments before the symphony a beaming Maestro Mester told the audience he has now completed his 20 th year of making music for Pasadena. He dedicated the performance to two major patrons: the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, and to Jet Propulsion Laboratories. The Symphony and JPL are kindred spirits, the Maestro deadpanned, because we both work with Titan. (For JPL, of course, Titan is a moon.) Patrons and board members mingled in the Gold Room during intermission and after the concert. Addressing that gathering, Board President Barbara Steinwedell looked forward to the next season, which, she said, promises to "stir your senses."
